OT - any computer boffins fancy offering help before i run over laptop with the RR

I thought there might be somewhere to go on their site to uninstall Norton but I couldn't find where, thanks very much for the link Mark.

Now Norton has gone the machine does appear far more responsive ;)

Stephen.

My laptop is now 12 months old and has become slightly slower with all the updates Norton insists I need on a daily basis.

I had both Zone Alarm and Norton running, don't think I need both.

My machine spec is;

Acer Aspire 1640 Screen size 15.4 bright widescreen Pentium M 740 processor Cache 2MB Bus 533MHz Speed 1.73GHz Memory 512 Storage 80 GB Graphics 128MB shared graphics Built-in wireless

I had to get rid of Antivir as this was causing the screen to flicker and go blank for one second every single minute, when I uninstalled Antivir the flickering disappeared completely, it must be polling the memory or something.

However the flickering only happened on my preferred operating system RISC OS running Virtual Acorn in a windows window not in Windows xp.

I'll do this norton search promptly to get rid of the bits of it left behind.

Noted and done, thanks.

Indeed, I couldn't believe the amount of crap I had installed on this machine. All appears to working smoothly now ;-)

Regards,

Stephen.

On or around 13 Apr 2007 14:56:00 -0700, "Dave R" enlightened us thusly:

no.

get some decent third party AV and anti-spyware/firewall software.

here, I use f-prot for the former and Agnitum Oupost for the latter.

sounds like it's got an invasion.
