BMW E36 316i wing mirror

Following some vandalism, I replaced the entire offside wing mirror assembly/housing with a salvaged unit from a specialist BMW vehicle dismantler.

The electrics were working fine with the damaged unit. Once the replacement was in place I got about 1 seconds worth of electric motor before it all stopped working. Electric windows still work okay. Does this sound like a fuse problem?

Hope you kept the old one as it's easy to swap the motor assembly.

Have you tried pushing it while someone operates the control? They do sometimes just jam - although the motor will usually run for a short time to take up the slack if you reverse it. Other possibility is a dirty selector switch. They often don't get used for years.
