Crash Damage - Help needed

All,

I've recently had a front-end impact that has required a new front grille, bumper, bonnet, new near-side wing, skin on passenger door and I've now been told chassis realignment.

Can someone explain to me what this involves and what to look out for when I get the car back?

Will it drive the same as before? I'm really apprehensive about what it'll be like when I get it back so anyones real-life experiences (good and bad) would be appreciated.

Many thx

BB

It involves placing a car on a jig and sometimes using heat and hydraulic rams to get the alignment right.

Watch out for abnormal tyre wear and steering issues over bumps.

Its hard to say as its a subjective thing and people always seem to think it feels different when it may not be or may have actually been "out" in the first place.

And probably giving the garage that's doing the jigging lots of money. :o(

Depending on what the car's worth (bearing in mind that it could be a lot less than pre-accident), whether insurance companies have been involved and how well you trust the garage doing the work, it may be a good idea to have the vehicle inspected by Autolign after the work has been done to check that the chassis is straight.
