'03 diesel Vauxhall Zafira 2 litre turbo engine.
When the engine is warm, pulling up at lights and junctions causes it to switch into 'limp home mode'. 'Spanner and Engine' symbol comes on and performance drops to negligible mode.
Raising the engine revs to over 1500 rpm for 7 seconds restores normal performance.
Any suggestions as to problem cause and recommended solutions?
first on vauxhalls is to check vacuum system, using a gauge, there should be no difference between idle vacuum and 1500rpm vacuum. get the codes read Autodata says if it has code p0400 then it may have a faulty egr valve position sensor, in which case cut and insulate the grey/black wire near the egr valve (or replace the valve)
