Starting up after Long Storage

Hello:

My car has been sitting for over a month in very high humidity and condensation prone weather. The New England weather has been tropical this summer, but from the moldy interior and water spots it seems that there has been severe condensation. Mold in the interior is another issue that I have to deal with. I wonder if the same condensation process has been going on within the engine cylinders, washing off lubrication.

Now the question: is there anything I should do before starting up to minimize potential damage (engine wear and tear, among other things) after letting the car sit for so long in such condition? I use Mobil 1 Tri-synthetic, and I wonder if that would help any with the cold start. Any advice and tips? Thanks so much.

Daniel

A month isn't very long. Just watch to make sure the oil pressure comes up before you put it into gear. Drive it gently until it's warm (always a good idea), and don't turn it off until it reaches full operating temperature, to cook any condensation out of the crankcase and exhaust system (also always a good idea).
