C Class Alternator

Hi there, am busy slowly "restoring" a C180 petrol. Just had the engine harness rewired and a throttle body replaced by a Bosch specialist. He did a fantastic job. The cost was about a third of what the MB agents wanted. Really impressed with his work. Now I need to attend to the bearings in the alternator ... Is it a difficult job which requires specialist tools .. apart from the usual toolbox which most car owners seem to have. Will do the brushes / regulator at the same time. Thanks. Bernard.

I had my 190e alternator re bearinged (is that a word)? by a local alternator/electrical shop. It didn't cost much and I did the removal and reinstallation.

Good luck, Marty

Thanks Marty, Think I might just do that. It's just a bit awkward here where I live in that it's 30km to the workshop and I have to arrange lifts with pensioners ;-) and I actually enjoy tackling the smaller jobs myself as long as I have to tools. Cheers. Bernard.
