Does anyone here know how the memory seat/steering wheel works in an 87 300SDL?

Hello group..Have had this car for three years and either I have a problem or can'tfigure out how this works..According to the owners manual, the steeringcolumn telescopic feature is tied in to the memory seats..I follow thedirections on setting the seats, but the steering wheel never moves..Thememory seat function works perfect, and the manual column adjustmentbutton/motor works normally but I can't get the darn memory part to work thecolumn......Any ideas? Hi John,My system works thus:-Set all your seat, column and mirrors to desired position. Press greenbutton labelled 'C'on door and one of the memory position buttons(1,2or 3)When you press 1,2 or three(not the programming C button) theneverything should adjust to you selected setting. Try with seat fullyback and column at lowest point set as position 3 say as above. Manualreset to full forward and column up then press 3 to see if it returnsto other settings-don't try when driving! If this won't work then jobfor MB.Good luck,Don

Hi Don,Thanks for the reply..Sounds like you have a newer car..Mine has the greenbutton and two others marked "1" and "2"..But have tried the same basicsteps, and the seats work but wheel doesn't...Maybe there is something wrongbut can't imagine what it could be being the manual part works, and thememory seats work..Maybe better take a run over to MB and see if they canmake a dummy out of me....Thanks!
