Mercedes Benz W124 model 1995

I have changed the ECU unit which controls the cruise control. Does anyone know if he replacement unit is a "plug & play" or does the new unit require progamming. If so how is this achieved. Many thanks for anyone that can assist me. Regards Golfsec5
