Seems unreal that you can't buy a shop manual for the 98 SLK (among others). Is this really true? Basically forces one to go to MB or a shop. Isn't there some kind of a law that a car maker must make repair info available for sale???
SLK, no shop manual...how can they?

Hello,
The federal law (in the USA) mandates the manufacturers to sell the repair handbook to whoever wish to purchase one regardless. You are entitled to service your vehicles yourself. However, it might invalidate the manufacturer's warranty one way or other if you are not authorised Mercedes-Benz technician, ad nauseam...
