W124 Smaller Than W123?

Is it my imagination, or is the W124 a slightly smaller car than the W123? I've owned two 123s and am consider- ing a 124, but the car looks significantly smaller, almost as small as a 190. Maybe it's the styling that creates this impression.

Also, which car is heavier, model for model?

I think it is the shape... the W123 is more bulbous shape where W124 is more wedge shape. It is way bigger than the 190E... and it absolutely a great size. We had a 190E so we know.

EURO version sedans compared: W123 length 4725 width 1786 height 1438 wheelbase 2795 W124 length 4740 width 1740 height 1425 wheelbase 2800

W201 length 4420 width 1678 height 1383 wheelbase 2665

W210 length 4818 width 1799 height 1441 wheelbase 2833 W211 length 4818 width 1822 height 1452 wheelbase 2854 (correct, both have the exact same length)

190/200 4-bangers, base-trim, shift (kilogrammes): W123 1390 W124 1320 W210 1365 W211 1570 W201 1130

Compared to the W123 the W124 looks so much smaller than it really is because of the much improved aerodynamics which cause the body to be much smaller between the wheels plus the trunk getting significantly smaller from rear wheels to the bumper.

In compariosn W210 looks biggest although indeed W211 is (same as with W123 and W124).
