Wiper troubleshooting

Ran across this, and thought I'd post it for reference:



Problem: Motor doesn't stop when switch is turned off Possible cause: defective switch; defective wiper motor



Problem: Blades stop anywhere when switch is turned off Possible cause: Open circuit between switch and motor; defective switch; defective wiper motor



Problem: Motor runs slowly in all speeds Possible cause: wiper linkage damaged or binding; defective wiper motor



Problem: Motor runs in high but not low; motor runs in low but not high Possible cause: Open circuit between switch and motor; defective wiper motor



Problem: Wipers won't come on in delay mode Possible cause: Open circuit between switch and motor; defective governor



Problem: Wipers won't stop running in delay mode Possible cause: Open circuit between switch and motor; poor ground at wiper motor; loose or damaged connector at governor



Problem: motor will not run Possible cause: Open circuit between switch and motor;defective switch; poor ground at wiper motor; defective wiper motor
