I did this in my (US) B-GT. You probably know one battery well is larger than the other. Obviously, you need a battery which fits in a small space. Regardless of the brand, you'll need a strong battery with a high cold cranking amps rating, due to the excessive distance the current must travel from the battery to the starter.

Good luck,

Yes, after 25 years and recent starting problems after not using my MGB for three weeks or more I changed to a single 12v battery. Now a fast turnover and easy starting every time. If you really want current you could have two 12v batteries in parallel but the garage who did my rework of the connections said that I would be going overboard with such an arrangement. The way the engine turns over on a single 12v battery indicates that with a pair I could dispense with the engine altogether!

I was warned against running two twelves in parallel, as one can discharge through the other.

I got to the same point earlier this year, but Moss International was doing heavy duty sixes for a fraction of the price my local garage wanted.
