'99 Montero Sport front end problems

I've got 44k mi. on my '99 MS and the front end is really unstable. I get a moderately bad vibration above about 50mph. Also the steering feels really loose and unsettled. In addition, The wheel bearings are wearing far too rapidly. There have been tech. bulletins issued by Mitshubishi but I REFUSE to pay them to see the info that fixes a problem that they created in the 1st place! Also a number of similar front end probs have been reported to the NHSTA. Can anyone tell me what the cause/s is/are? Any help is greatly appreciated.
