HFM?

I've been looking for a vehicle that I can leave in Italy when I'm not there that's

Diseasel Cheap Big No, Really Fuck-off Big Cheap LHD

I saw an Opel Omega that seemed to fit the bill, but guess how much the seller wants for a 1998 91,000 mile vehicle that's still on French plates so it's going to cost "quite a bit" to get it registered?

£3,150.

Oh how I laughed.

I was thinking of offering £850 do you think he'll bite?

Erm, Alfa 166 JTD.

Surely they're worth peanuts these days, even to Johnny Foreigner?

The trouble is, LHD vehicles do seem to fetch a premium in the UK - so you'd be better looking for one abroad.

Might be worth it for the 10 litre engine.

Fourn'alf grand? HFM indeed.

It's tidy looking, but you can buy a car for that.

Depends if Mr Firth wants "Fuck-off Big" for the size of boot it will afford. In which case he'd be better off with a Clio V6 than a 166.

Erm, s**te. And they don't do an estate.

Ghod knose why, they used to be cheaper than RHD.

Umm yes, well, that's a statement you could only make if you have never bought one abroad.

Overpriced. Meets criteria 1,2,3,5,6 but I wouldn't say it meets 4.

Oh I dunno, it was an estate and it's FoB in comparison to most stuff for sale in Italy. Sadly it isn't 4x4 and I've had problems getting Opels with traction control up the lane to the farm. OK most of the year, impossible in winter.

Presumably the Omega has the same garbage "traction control" as on the old Cavs & Vectras - the one that just craps itself and kills all power if it detects a bit of wheel slippage.

Yup, I think that's it. Bloody useless. OK, you're not skidding, but you aren't going anywhere either. I think Mondeos had the same rubbish design.
