You know its a bad day when......

The lower mounting bracket for your chargecooler detaches itself from the front of the gearbox then under a particularly sharp deceleration the CC sees fit to fling itself though the radiator which in turn sprays 'rather warm' water all over everything it sees fit (including the distributor, coil etc.).

What makes it even worse is that I was just closing down my old boy into a roundabout ready to slingshot around the outside on the exit.

Worse still was the fact that the pair of Saxo's we'd overtook earlier then see fit to drive past waving and beeping whilst the Saabs at the side of the road pissing steam and water.

Still First ever breakdown (as in side of road undriveable) in 2 1/2 years so thats not too bad. I think the Lotus CC was a bit pissed off that I'd ordered its replacement on Friday so was just trying to do a bit of damage before it went LOL

Things have knowledge of these scenarios...Cam Belts snap on the way back from the factors with it's replacement...Not me, but I've heard of it!

Mine's booked in the garage tomorrow morning for cambelt swap. I'm praying it doesn't snap on the way home from work tonight :)

Yeah I know the feeling.

Was over at Malbrad at Huddersfield yesterday to get a new quacker bottle for the Saab (the Vacuum cannister that controls the vent switches).

He had a quick look over the car advised me to cut a big hole in the innerwing to get better flow to the cone filter, then get some rubber edging to totally seal the engine bay heat from that inner wing.

Then he spotted the cam chain tensioner, and advised that I change it ASAP, and that I get the new type updated one.

The he said, while you are at it, get a cam cover gasket, because with that old type, if you don't push the chain from behind, while the tenser is screwed out, it will pop the end out into the engine as the pressure is taken off.

And this wasn't just hard sell, as he knew I had driven 50 miles to get the part I came for, and he didn't have any tensioners in stock anyway. Just friendly advise that a £40 spend might save me £400 soon.

All sounds like good advice to me. Go ahead and do it :)

Thats what I figured. Don't see it very often, and nice when it happens.

Was thinking about getting someTumble dryer type hose, and running it down below the intercooler to the meshed over vents in the front valance. Should work OK.

Does the old type have a click stop type setting like the old one then?

I can believe it. Bet you need some kind of bendy extendy magnet thing?

Yep, and they are working on making a replacement metal pluger to go on instead of the plastic plunger with the pin hole, because he had a whole box of broken ones.

After help like that, I happened to spot a very near new rear decor panel. £40. Was rude not to really.

Will hopefully be fitting this weekend if I get chance.

Fraid not. That was his last one at the time. Took it off the display of bits for me. Had it double bolted to the stand, through a fake number plate for security.
