460 in a 94-98 Mustang?

Will it fit? What would need to be changed other than the motor mounts, trans mount and driveshaft length? Any body tried it?

Not that I think it's a bad idea, but since your dealing with an EFI car already, you can easily make just as much power with an EFI 351 and save yourself a huge amout of headaches. Parts are easy to get as Saleen did this from the factory. Just a few cents from another guy :-)

I was told by a Chevy guy with a big block that a 460 would be a bad idea in my '96 GT, as I'd considered it down the road. He said the front end would sit on the ground since my car is lowered already. LOL! Not sure if he was joking or not...

Besides thinking of how much the front will be lowered, you Front to rear weight ratio would be all jacked up. It was bad enough just with the 5.0.

Mike, I definately have to back you up on this one, but I suppose that it depends on the amount of green that the OP has and what kind of duty the car is to see. If it's "go fast in a straight line" duty, then the fact that it'll handle like a pig doesn't matter much. If the car's going to be a race car, emissions doesn't matter much.

However, for street use, a worked-over EFI 351W (perhaps even stroked out some) will provide you close to big-block power. Throw a blower on it and

600hp is easily realized, and emissions legal if done correctly (Saleen did it with the S351 cars around those years).

The 460 might be a slightly cheaper investment than the EFI Windsor... you'd have to price the parts and such. Neither will be cheap, even if the block is given to you.

I'm gonna agree with everyone who said 351W based stroker. You can actually stroke a 351 out to 480 cubes if you get the 9'5" deck height block. That would cost lots and lots of money though. I say stick with the regular 351W and stroke it to 408 or 393. Put a good set of heads and a decent flowing intake on it and you will have yourself quite the street-machine. Add a turbo or blower to it and it will make insane power. 600rwhp should be fairly easy with a blown 408. Good luck! Erik D. '94 white lightning
