Leather Dye Flaking off 97 Cobra Seats (solved)

Many thnx to all who made suggestions, and special thnx to SVTKate. Kate suggested 'meltonian' black shoe cream (polish) to cover the few areas where the leather dye had come off the black leather seats in my newly-acquired 97 cobra.

I ended up using 'Redline' black shoe cream to touch up the areas and its worked great. No sign of it coming off after 2-3 cleanings and nothing coming off on the ass of my pants either. :) It actually added some nice depth back into the black finish as well. I wonder if this stuff is safe for an all-over coat on the leather... ?

My only new problem with the cobra is some sort of vibration coming from what I think is somewhere in the rear end. Not noticeable below ~50mph, quite noticeable at 55-60 mph (~100kmh for us Canucks), and smooths out above 60. Seemed to be noticeably worse after returning from a 17 hour (8.5 x2 ways) trip. Could a bad rear wheel bearing cause this? Bad universal joint? Wheel out of balance? I cannot feel it in the steering wheel - I feel it mostly as a kind of 'seat of the pants' way, y'know?

I have to say that after years of wanting a Cobra, the 97 is really fulfilling my dreams. I asked my wife when i could buy a 93 cobra to go with the 97 and she said 'after our house is finished and your garage is done'. Fair nuff... :)

Hey Chris! I'm really happy to hear that it worked :) I don't know that I would put it all over the seats, I would hate to find out that on a hot day your swwtie would wear something white and have it ruined. but a good dose of saddle soap never hurt a thing LOL.

On the vibration, the first thing I would check is your tires. I know that if mine are even the teensiest bit out of balance they will vibrate and when they begin to get worn they vibrate.

I had a nail removed from Shug's left rear hoof two days ago and even though he put the tire back on in the same position it was in to begin with it has a tiny vibration, Hubby says that just the weight of the patch could be causing it.
