Most horrible metal screeching noise ever!

Stopped at the fireworks store in my '93 5.0. Started the car back up and it made the loudest screeching sound that I have ever heard! It sounded like a fork scraping against metal real fast continuously!

I installed an vortec A-trim on there about a year and a half ago, and have put about 2000 miles on the car since then. I thought that the noise was coming from the suprcharger but it was impossible to tell it was so loud.

I took the belt of the supercharger so thatI could drive the vehicle and see if the noise problem was gone. Started it up and the noise was still there! Still couldnt tell where it was coming from, except right up at the front.

Got something to drink at the gas station next door and had it started up again and no noise!!!!

Put the A-trim belt back on and still no noise. Everything seems to be running smooth and fine, and the supercharger seems the same as well.

Probably wasnt the A-trim since it made the noise without the A-trim belt.

Did my car fix iteself?

I assume you mean that noise that you get if you try to start the car when its already running? Its was worse than that noise :-)

Twice my solenoid stayed on the on postion and made a sound worse than when starting the car when it was already started. I had to disconnect the battery cable to get it to stop spinning.

That noise is pretty funny in one situation. If your car ever makes it, you have to pretend it electrocuted you....

Someone else mentioned that the fan belt can make a screecing noise like this. I have never heard it before, but maybe that is what it could be. I started and stopped the car enough times tha tit warmed up maybe?

I guess I should replace that belt anyways.
