Mustang Monthly article - October issue

I read in the October issue(Page 32/33) about this guy who did a restomod job on his 69 Boss 302.In the credits box on the right,it mentions that he had the side stripes digitally painted, and this is credited to John Eagle Aston Martin, which I believe are in Florida. Does anyone know anything about this painting process, and how it is done ?And its funny, but one of the guys at J.E.A.M. knew the guy who has the car,(Phin Stubbs)but didn't know anything about the stripes or why it was credited to them !! Curious. BTW,it says the colour of that car is Mineral Gray, and I am considering it for my car, along with black, but i am undecided as yet !!

The stripes in question were not "digitally painted" but instead, a polarized digital enhanced vinyl cut out was used for the painting of the stripes. Just like masking off, only better...........Just a large template.............Don't believe everything you read, as the articles are chopped to death by the time it hits the magazine. The editors have to make it all fit the space provided on the page, a snip here, a cut there, and your done.............

Yeah,I knew there was something fishy going on,it just didnt make sense !! So is it better to get the stripes done this way,or to buy the decals from a Mustang shop ? What would be the approx price difference ??

I didn't think anybody made the stripes in a decal with the correct dimensions. They would be a pain to put it on too. It'd have to be on the hood, roof, decklid, cowl, front and rear valances, taillight panel, and the small panel under the grill where the bumper mounts. Too many alignment problems and not something I'd want to mess with. At least with paint you can take all the time in the world to check your stripes before you spray them on.With the decals, even with soapy water, you can't float them around forever.
