OT: Upgraded Focus To SVT Specs

Dec 28, 2007 2 Replies

My daughter has been racking up the miles on her ZX3 Focus and the front struts were starting to show signs of wear and tear. So for X- mas, I purchased her a new SVT suspension kit. The kit included a thicker rear anti-roll bar, and a set of springs and struts from the defunct SVT Focus. It only lowered her car maybe an inch -- it would take a trained eye to instantly notice the difference -- but the handling is much improved. And that's saying something, because in stock trim the little Foci are like go-carts.

If you've thought about picking up a Focus to use as a commuter, and you want to play around with it a little, I would highly recommend this kit. Two thumbs up!

Interesting... What else did the Focus come with (ie engine, etc.). I drove a Contour for a year, as a good mileage daily driver. As a performance junkie, I alway wondered if it would be possible to take a base car (Contour, Focus, etc.) and mod it into the SVT version. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did it work?

It's Zetec powered with an automatic and 16" alloy wheels. For her it's great, but I would have opted for a 5-speed manual.

Check out this link.
