Re: What do with 69 Mustang suspension?

I found the problem that I posted below..

The problem was mostly due to a loose bolt -- the "Eccentric and Bolt" bolt on the driver side allowed the wheel to move forward and backward about 1/8 an inch.. that was enough to cause the car to be uncontrollable. Also, driver side, front upper arm bolt/bushing is loose which allows the wheel to tip in and out a little.

I didn't locate the problem because of how I was jacking up the car.. I had finally jacked up the car by the frame rails instead of placing the jack on the lower arm.. I know -- I should have done this in the first place.

After tightning up the steering box bolt and all the other bolts I have made a 90% improvement. It still needs a new steering box and I think I will buy one I recently saw that is a drop-in replacement but completely re-engineered with better response).

I don't know anything about suspension.. and apparently I can spend a LOT of > money.. > I would one day like to have 4 wheel disc brakes, but first I have to fix > the steering-suspension. > > When I get to 70 or higher miles per hour the car becomes dangerous. dont have a point by point, just general response and question, kinda fuzzy on the whole "top posting" debate.

when i did my first quarter mile times, or at least tried to, with my

69 coupe, she definately lifts up at 100mph. had some tranny not shifting problems so gonna swap that out and when i try again i want to be prepared. on my list is: an export brace, front and rear mach1\boss\whatever spoilers.

currently she has a PST poly graphite and front end suspension kit( new tie rod ends, etc.) PST leafs. and is all alligned. 8" wide Z rated michelins. and has a little bit of play in the steering that i need to fix.

heres my comment. how far would someone with my intentions (doing 1/4s once in a while) want to go with front/rear suspension to get better performance/safety? when i saw the pics of what shelby is putting underneath the new eleanor clones i was in awe, it looked like something youd see on a drag car or something. all custom. whats realistic? high perf shocks? what?

thanks,
