Good thing you did. That's an exorbitant price, and too soon an interval. One sixty to flush the a stick tranny? What does that even mean, flush it? Do they just pour quarts of trans. oil through till they think it's 100% clean??? ;-) Not surprisingly, the dealer was just trying to make a buck... 60k is a more typical interval, maybe more if the TR-3650 uses "GM synchromesh" or another high-quality tranny oil, as Tremec (the transmission OEM) recommends. That oil can be $8 or more / qt., but it doesn't need 10 quarts by any means.
Like another poster said, check the manual, or call another dealer's service dept. and ask them. I am not opposed to anal-retentive preventative maintenance by any means, but I am opposed to *unnecessary* PM. I'd call that guy's boss if I were you.
I would highly recommend you have it changed; however, I wouldn't pay the dealer's price. Here's what I do. I pick up about 3 quarts of Redline's D4 ATF (it takes auto-trans fluid) and have a quick oil change place do the dirty work (suck out the old; refill with the new). It'll cost you a quarter of the dealer's price and you'll have a better lube.
Note: I have my T-5's fluid changed out about every 25,000.
For a manual tranny you could go to nearly 100,000 miles or play it extremely safe and do it at 50k intervals. For an auto I always change the fluid and filter every 30k-35k miles. BTW, that is a mighty expensive fluid change for a manual tranny. Do they have to drop it from under the car first?
Run away from that dealer... fast.... Drain and refill a manual trans will run about $40 plus oil..... Flush???? I'll bet that they make you bring your own vaseline...
Just make sure they actually USE your oil and don't just put the box in the corner till you leave, then all your Red Lin / Amsoil / Synergy goes into the Corolla that the kid in the pit is setting up for street racing. He should crack the low 16's with that synthetic oil and a blower...
