Turbo Stang Is On The Way

According to Jalopnik, Ford chairman Bill Ford Jr. has publicly stated that a turbocharged Mustang is on the way.

Ford Jr. didn't get into specifics, but likely engine choices would either be a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 or a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder.

A turbocharged Mustang reminds us--and everyone else--of the late SVO that was offered in the early '80s. Whether Ford would use that name is unknown, but a modern SVO could be a fun fuel-sipper.

The twin turbo 355-365HP EcoBoost is available in the Ford Flex 4WD and the Taurus SHO. I have the standard 3.5L 262HP Duratec V6 in my 2010 Flex with front wheel drive and I don't have any trouble burning rubber if I hit the gas hard. I would think a Mustang with the EcoBoost V6 would, indeed, be a nasty machine.
