Which Wheels??

You two seem to have forgotten that, for a '69 Stang fake IS period correct. I'd guess that 90% of production in the classic years came with wheel covers, all of which were fake representations of something else. Not to mention all the fake scoops and wood grain appliques and leather textured vinyl upholstery and plastic panels -- even leather textured steel and fiberglass in the interiors of the first gens. For that matter there's never been a Stang of any year without one or more of the above.

P.S. I LIKE spinners.

I don't know why, but I like 'em. I've got a nice set in the garage, just waiting for me to (among other things) wear out my current set of tires.

Just to clarify: spinners in the classic sense, not the bling-bling "moving while sitting still" sense, right? I can't stand the latter...

I love the 16" bright machined cast aluminum wheels that come standard on the new V6 Premium. Without the spinner (the painted version that comes standard with the V6 Deluxe), it doesn't work so well IMO.

While what you say is true, as far as wheels go, the wheel coves or hub caps on steel wheels were basic. When owners wanted to "soup them up", the choices available in wheels was somewhat limited. It generally came down to mags (gray spokes with polished rim), chrome reversed, and wires (real wires) with knock off hubs, or some variation. Over time, more and more styles hit the market, until today, if you have the money, you can get a set of one off created with a theme of your choice. Today there are umpteen different styles. Still, for the period, if you went back and looked through some old catalogs from that period, and looked at old hot rod magazines, you would see what I meant by 'era correct'.

As far as interior, etc, in 1969 I was sitting in foxholes and eating out of cans in the middle of nowhere. We didn't have any handy to check out, so, you are quite possible right since I never got hooked on the 69/70 until decades later.

You will note that I openly stated that this was my personal view, and others, like yourself, may well see it differently. That's fine with me. We all like what we like.I'll stick with my Vintage 40s. As for spinners and knockoffs... depends on the car.... On an AC Cobra or a split window 'vette, or something like an MG, Triumph, or Jag, they were fine. Never thought they, or wires, were really right on a Mustang.

There were several people with cars like that when I was in highschool. See, that showed my superior intelligence, I put them on opposite sides instead of front and back and it took 6 months before the first person ever noticed ROFL!!

Apparently there is a weight on one side of the outside "spinner" so that it prevents it from spinning. So while the car is moving, the wheels look like they're completely motionless. Freaked me out for a second. Especially since it was at a stoplight and the car was inching up beside me and I thought I was rolling backwards, since his wheels weren't turning. WHOAH! I STOMPED on the brakes, which were ALREADY stomped on. heh!
