"Last year, GM abondoned the pony car market. After years of successfully selling Camaros and Firebirds, it put both cars on hiatus in favor of the SSR. Ford is currently tooling up for a new version of the Mustang, but it seems there is a large hole in that particular market that could be filled with a Chrysler product. Any plans to do so?"
Dr. Dieter Zetsche (President and CEO of Chrysler) "When I told you that we'd be launching 25 cars over the next 36 months, there will be one vehicle that will very closely approach the four-seat sports car segment."
"Bringing back the Charger R/T perhaps?"
Zetsche: "Could be. But, while leveraging a company's legacy has a lot of merits, it's easy to go too far." Simply building a replica of a former product is not a successful strategy for the future of a car company."
