IF THE HANDBOOK recommends using higher octane, you most likely will recognize 4-6 mpg improvement when using higher octane.

I can tell you that from personal experience on Pathfinders, Maxima's and my current Murano.

That's what I said: I told the guy to do what his OM stated...mine doesn't say that.

But I will repeat that using premuim for MOST cars makes NO difference re: mileage. These websites might be of interest to you if you haven't seen them already:

The concensus?

Unless your car NEEDS premuinm (91 and above), don't buy it. If it says 87, then stay with that.

Of course, people can use whatever they want even if it doesn't really make any difference...it's their car and money at the pumps.
