Thats it - I'm officially hacked off..

There are very tempting audio/video sockets in the glove compartment of my

407. And sure I can plug in my MP3 and listen through the cars sound system no problem (sounds great!) BUT as soon as I drive above about 5kph (3 mph) the thing cuts out.

Peugeot HQ say they can't do a thing - but I know that all these things can be circumvented some how.

Does anyone know how I can override this pesky speed related cut out before I explode with frustration?

Thanks

I do not know what kind of radio or sound system is in the 407. but i would start by pulling out the radio and following the wires until you get to the sockets in the glove box. bascially, anything that is in the middle i would get rid of and wire the sockets straight to radio!

Hi,

I may be wrong, but the only one link I can imagine between the car's speed and the audio system is the autovolume feature. Try to deactivate it. I'm not really sure it would work, but it worthes a try.

No technical solution, but if you have an iPod you could buy an illegal (but relatively harmless) iTrip for your iPod. I bought a cheap US spec Aireo on eBay which has the same FM transmitter built in. Works fine

Its a 136 2.0 HDI SE Lux pack (SW version).

Except for that annoying 'feature' with the MP3 player, I'm very happy with it - -

However it definitely uses more fuel that my previous 110 HDI 406, (not surprising since its a fair bit heavier), the gearchange from 1st to 2nd is a little imprecise, the power assist can shudder a little when turning sharply at low speed but, well ,that's it...

Its better built, better handling, better roadholding, quieter, nicer to drive, has lots of toys and looks great ( especially in black)

Ok, there is bad news and goo news on this (for all 407 drivers)....

1) The bad news is that the setting of the stereo external feed is to cut out when the car is in motion. The reason for this is that the device was designed to take a video feed (rather than MP3s, but MP3s do work), and its not safe to have videos playing whilst driving. You can ask your dealer to disable this using their programmer, but not many are sure on how to do this.

2) The good news is that soon, you will not have to bother. A new version of the software will be available soon (July/August) which will provide V6.6 of the software including a host of new features (graphical rear parking display, better voice controls (turns down the stereo when you speak), better nav controls etc. But the big difference, is that it will play MP3 Cds (inserted into the stereo with MP3 files burnt on a PC), and the stereo stays on whilst driving if there is audio input but no graphical.

So wait a couple of months and speak to your dealer about getting the V6.6 firmware updated as soon as it is available.

If anybody is intrested, you can read all about the new software at the following forum:
