Obviously discussion of problems related to Pontiacs is included under the general area of "anything Pontiac related" What FBR is correctly stating is 'help' is not listed ANYWHERE in the charter. Do lots of people come in here and ask for/ receive help? Obviously the answer is yes. Does that make it the groups purpose? No.

The only thing I could think of would be something I saw happen a couple of years ago. Someone came into an alt.TV group and posted a message. The poster's computer's date was incorrect as it was actually set a year or so ahead of what it currently was. The post stayed at the top of the group until it got dumped by the server (mine anyways) a few months later. That is all I can think of, but I guess some readers do not go off the message date, rather they go after when the message popped up on them. I dunno. I think it would be a great thing to have though, that way people know what the experts in the group need to see in a post in order to properly address it.
BTW I wouldn't mind hosting a Pontiac quick reference guide page that could be referred to when the easy/obvious stuff comes up. Like a simple Pontiac FAQ. That way a copy/pste of a URL might take care of a lot of the stuff we see on a daily basis. Open to changes and input of course.
Damn good idea. Most of the groups I visit have such a page, and it is often helpful. Maybe it's the Pontiac's groups time.

How about posting a request for what folks would like to see in the basic FAQ? Like I said, I will spend the bandwith to host (not ona geocites freebie but on a real host) it but I think if I ask I will get nothing but BS.
I think you should just go with the basic's. Year, make, model detal, engine, all that stuff. Also, I think describing the problem in *high* detail always helps too. Sure, it may turn into a whole page post, but if it helps then so be it. As for what is and is not considered SPAM, I think everyone who is a regular here needs to give input on that. Like I said, I have no problem with people selling Pontiac's here as long as the post starts with 'For Sale' or 'FS' or whatever. I think the basic's will do for now though until you can get other's input. Year, make, model, engine and so forth. At least then the people looking at the posts know what car/engine they are trying to fix.
