More reliable (Somewhat)

My '88 Pontiac 6000 2.5L makes in an embarassment out of my dad's '96 Blazer. My 6000 just turned 123k and ticking... the motor's original and yes - 17 years old. Then there's my dad's Blazer. 118k, and it's time for a replacement engine. He's going to be nuts enough to spend the money to put a junkyard engine in it with 80,000 miles. Should I say more?
