overheating '94 Grand Am 2.3L (changed water pump, thermostat and radiator)

My 2.3L's temp gauge will head towards the red after about 5 or so minutes of idling (it's about 30 degrees F out now). I've changed the thermostat, water pump and now the radiator thinking it was blocked after the therm and water pump didn't do the trick.

The radiator itself and the lower radiator hose doesn't even get warm, and the inside heater vents blow cold. The upper radiator hose gets warm though. Any idea what could be going on? All advice would be appreciated.

Thanks and happy holidays. Daryl

Top hose is discharge. Lower hose is suction. The top hose should get HOT! Sounds like the thermostat is stuck closed.

Sounds like theres air in the system and you havent got it worked out yet. Other thoughts would be the thermostat may be upside down or the thermostat isnt opening as soon as it should which happens. Ever have stop leak in the system??? Also one last thought, do you have the correct water pump? Some depending on how the belt is routed will fit but turn the wrong way.
