Hi Jeff,

Had the same problem and was quoted between £200 - £300 for a new head gasket including skimming the head. My K reg rover 216GSi and not worth much considering the condition so I bought some 'blockweld' (holts make it I think) and followed the instructions. It sealed the head gasket. Still running it some 6 weeks later and goes great! Mind you, I've been keeping the revs down to 3000 (62mph) just in case. I know this isn't excellent advice but it may tide you over until you can get another car. Bought the blockweld from a local parts dealer here in the SW and a spare just in case - but haven't needed it until now.
