2001 2.0 Turbo Aero 9-3

Two questions:

I've noticed my key fob is slowing down a little - I'm assuming its a simple unscrew and a battery replacement off the shelf?

Also, are Saabs known for a little rattle underneath - when driving with the window down on a bumpy road it can sound quite tinny. I've had the heat shield around the exhaust done which I thought would fix it. I know the connection underneath the manifold is moveable but still, it sounds noisier than I'd expect

Either way, loving the Saab - just sorting out the little things

Thanks

The SID should tell you if a remote battery needs changing, but if you still want to do it, push a jeweler's screwdriver into the little hole in the side of the key handle whilst levering open the back with a thin blade. Once the new battery is in, go within range of the car and press the unlock button four times to re-sync the system.

I haven't noticed any noises like that on mine. In my experience, if exhaust heat shielding rattles, then it tends to resonate at certain engine revs, rather than responding to bumpy roads. I guess it'll be a matter of getting under the car and looking for loose stuff.

Very astute choice of model and year :o)

Cheers,

Colin.

Thanks for that little tip Colin - see, this is kind of why I posted because I would have just replaced it! I didn't know I'd have to re-synch it. So the SID (pixilated naturally) would warn me when its low? That's nifty.

My 2001 SE had a tiny rattle like this. Turn out to be the break pads rattling against the discs. During service they put some white paste between the pads and cylinders to stop the rattle.
