CD Changer for 2001 9-5?

Jan 21, 2004 2 Replies

I just purchased from Cructchfield.com the Clarion cd changer model# DC-625 for my 1995 900SE. Haven't installed it yet, but from the posts here I don't expect any issues. This was MUCH cheaper than the $400+ unit the dealer wanted to sell me.

Now that Saab is using Harmon Kardon, does anyone know if there is a Harmon Kardon equivalent that can be purchased after-market for the newer Saabs like a 2001 9-5 Wagon?

Thanks...

Leigh

The CD changer for the 9-5 vehicles (without navigation system) are manufactured by Pioneer for Saab. The changer is not connected to the head unit using a dedicated cable as it is done with ordinary third party units. Instead it is connected to one of the network busses in the 9-5 (a CAN bus). The only changer able to do this is the changer sold by Saab.

See my home page for more information about the audio units in the 9-5:

Thanks for the info... I've bookmarked your site.

Any idea what the ballpark US price is on the changer from Saab?
