Your spam is unwelcome here. Had you asked first, contributed knowledge,and then oh by the way also been selling a product, your message would have been much more effective. As it is, you're just another spammer exploiting our discussion group, and I therefore invite you to go away and stay there.

News groups are for things that are intersting to that subject since this is the saab news group I was under the impression that you would be interested in a site that is biased towards your interest. My appoligies if I offended you I can get hold of some Viaga for you if you prefer !!

I have to confess that as a Volvo S60 owner I have been more biased towards Volvo information. However I will make an effort to find more information on Saab in general in the future.

Of course if you know of any news then I would always be gratefull of it being added to the site.

This site is something I knocked up over Christmas and I thought it might be interesting to see if we could build up a community as well as publish our karting exploits.

I've removed the original posts as I didn't want to offend anyone else.

Well the first one was attempt to generate some interest (which apears to have offended and backfired)

The second was a response to Dave.

It looked very much like the spam we get here frequently. If your site is a discussion forum, then say so when you introduce it. Go back and read your initial post - not knowing who wrote it or what the site is about, look at it objectively - looks like someone trying to get traffic to a site, with little to no clear mention of it just being a discussion board. Looked to me like you were trying to sell performance stuff.

I'm not writing this to get a "yeah, you're right", or to score points, or for any reason like that. This is just a "Wow, that was a pretty ineffective way to introduce a discussion website" kind of message. Take it or not, doesn't matter to me in the slightest.

In what way have you 'removed' them? My server's still got them. All you've done is remove them from google. It's always a good idea to learn a little more about the medium you're using to communicate :-)

I understand what you are saying, perhaps I could have put a little more thought into the post to make it clear.

At the end of the day this is all just something that I've put together in my spare time and of course I'd like people to come and see it.

Sorry yes I have just removed them from Google I'm not a news group sort of person so I tend to just use google as my main interface. I assume that any NNTP server/client subscribed to this news group would have the entire thread? or would it just be any server that has syncronised before I deleted the posts? Always interested to learn how things work.

cancel messages were widely abused in the early decades of Usenet and are widely ignored for that reason.

Strictly speaking it's the latter - NNTP is a pull protocol. However, since several hours passed between posting and deleting, all servers carrying the group will have the messages.

The delete request will be ignored by the vast majority of servers.

The whole world has your original post, until it expires from individual servers (how long varies). Google is one of few places that plan to archive everything on the internet for all time.
