I had one experience with "Limp Home".

This was caused by defective Sensor(s) in the throttle body.

I experienced two phenomena: (1) Engine would not idle when cold. As soon as it warmed up while I held the throttle down to get about 1000 rpm it idled perfectly.

(2) If I attempted to drive over 69, 70 mph, the engine would quickly but gradually, shut down. After two restarts I drove at 65 mph at most to my destination (about 200 miles) and then to the Saab dealer around the corner..

Eight Hundred US dollars later, I was good to go with a new throttle body. I cannot complain this is my first "repair" and I am now at 108K miles and starting into the fifth year.

Took my saab 9-5 to the dealer who diagnosed a seized turbo. Wow ,what a price this is costing me as well two new sensors in the engine. Steve. Thanks for all the suggestions anyway.
