Hi all Negotiated for 9-3 Linear 2003 automatic, for $21500. Car has 13k miles on it and is certified pre owned. Any ideas if it sounds like a good deal? They give special apr of 6.9%. Also, are there any problems to look for in this model year. Never owned a Saab befor but always wanted one. Any input would be appreciated.

The car price doesn't sound bad, but the interest is high for a "special". I purchased a certifed 9-5 Wagon (2004) for $24,000 in 2005. It had 18,000 miles on it and 1.9% SAAB financing. I love the SAAB. After three horrible Volvos (mechanical and electrical problems), the SAAB is a refreshing change. It has more leg room, more power, and better gas mileage.

I've been looking at the used 2003/4 market too for a 9-3. You should be able to obtain 3.9% for 3yr, 4.9% for 4yr and 5.9% for 5yr if the
9-3 is certified and warrantied by Saab. What options does the car have? It sounds slightly high for that year (regardless of mileage), unless it has a navigation system or every bell & whistle possible. I was looking at a 9-3 manual tran w/ 18,000 miles in Boulder, CO (Saab warranty & certification) for $20k negotiated w/ 17" wheels, 6 disc, sunroof, basically everything except climate control; w/ 4.9% 4yr loan. I walked away partly for other reasons, but I wasn't sure I was getting an amazing deal.Take a look at ebay for a good price comparison (add $1500-2000 for the certified warranty) and you'll be shocked ($16-$18k). I've owned one Saab before '92 9000 turbo, it had its mechanical problems but it also has me hooked. B/c '93 was the first model year of that series, I feel a need to get the warranty, owners have had very positive or very negative opinions of that year.

I disagree. Do not look at eBay for price comparison purposes. On eBay you are buying a pig in a poke. You will almost always get a car that has some kind of a problem. Then who are you going to go back to?
Buying a car on eBay can save you money, just like a private sale can, but buying a car through a dealership, while it may cost a few more dollars is a lot safer bet.

I bought a 2003 93 last month. 36,000 miles, certified, manual. $18,500. The salesman implied I could have saved $2000 if I had foregone the warranty, but that was one of the reasons I decided to buy it - just in case.
I got 5.75% through my credit union.
I'm loving the car - I have a dead 91 9000 - the transmission went out in January. In the 70s I had a 96 3 cylinder 2 stroke. It was a great car too.

I would be happy with such a deal, if only the APR were lower. That milage is great. Tires should be in good condition too. You could almost get a comparable '03 9-5 if you'd rather. Resale value might be better.
