If you didn't know SAAB is notorious for its low resale values, you do now. So don't expect to fetch any significant amount when you are ready to sell yours.

Why's that? They're supposed to be great cars with gobs of usable life. And they're really popular among enthusiasts.

Carfax's clean. I know (from experience) that that doesn't say the car's perfect

I just bought a 1999 9-5 wagon for $5200 with 120k miles on it. My mechanic said it is "impeccable." And it really feels it - very smooth, quiet, tight-shifting, etc. It was on the low end of the price range, but the guy had a Lexus, probably a lot of money, and just wanted to get the car sold. It was his wife's car, bought new in Sweden, maintained by the book. Listen to the seller's story and ask questions about the service history. The more questions you ask, the better idea you'll get about how the car was maintained. You may just be lucky.

If it's anything like the 9000 you'll be replacing the clutch, timing chain, ACC blower pretty soon. A crankcase ventilation problem causes premature oil wear. Check the engine compression.

I think that's a typical.

You don't replace the timing chain or clutch nor thw acc blower on a 9k at 120,000 miles. Maybe you have bad luck. Not eveyone else does.
