Several months ago the engine in my 98 SL (80k miles) started pinging during gear changes (not due to bad driving) and hard acceleration. It also started missfiring when starting the engine during warm weather. Eventually in January, it had a major missfiring incident and the dealer replaced sparks, cables, and ignition coils. The computer chip was also replaced/reprogrammed. Now the missfiring and pinging is starting again. Obviously there's something else wrong. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

have your fuel pressure checked. You may have a weak pump or a bad regulator. Sounds like you are running too lean.
