My Studebaker doesn't like the cold by Rick Courtier

My Stude doesn't like the cold, It doesn't like it in Omaha, It doesn't like it in Seminole, It doesn't like the cold weather

My Stude doesn't like the cold, It sputters, clutters, it clucks, it coughs, it shakes, it shutters it doesn't like the cold weather

My Stude doesn't like the cold it Pops, it cracks It sneezes, it quivers it sometimes it even shivers it doesn't like the cold weather

My Stude doesn't like the cold It groins, it moans, it snorts though it carb ports it evens fire though it exhaust ports It doesn't like the cold weather

My Stude doesn't like the cold Once it starts and continues to sputter, it make all kinds of comical clutter just to prove it doesn't like the cold weather

My Studebaker doesn't like the cold sputters start to smooth clutters start to stop once it hits that warm spot But most of all it crack back letting me know My Studebaker doesn't EVER like the cold weather!

Global warming my ASS!

Not bad, kind of cute. But if ur stude doesn't like a balmy 45 degree morning it certainly wouldn't survive a -30 below zero wind chill up north here. I don't even want to hear brrrrrrr coming from anybody down there. lol U have no idea how cold can be, and u can drive ur cars all year round, so I don't even want to hear any whining come from u folks. lol

Nor did I.

No whining from me, but you ought to hear the whining of a 944 timing belt at 10 degrees or so (Fahrenheit, mind you, not that wimpy Celsius stuff) I think the car was trying to tell me it wanted a hot shower and some coffee before going outside! It always "sings" a little but the other day when it was nice and cold it sounded like a supercharger under the hood... and I wasn't even driving, just following! (on the way to the shop... now that I *will* whine about...)

In Britain, the weatherman used to warn us about the "Arctic" winds expected that day.

I grew up in Boson.

Only one day in my eight years in the UK was I cold - doing a brake job in the open with my coat & shirt riding up to expose my back. But I was young then and could take it - only 52 years old.

That's cold, but cars aren't effected by wind chill. (:-)

When those timing belts sing it usually means they're set just a little bit tight.

You may be right, but with their known fragility, that's a job I won't do myself. It's kind of scary, but they have a 45K mile replacement interval, and they also drive the water pump. That's probably the biggest issue that I have with Porsche engineering WRT my car...

Hondas (old) had 60K intervals and the later models went to 105K. Guess dem Krauts are still on the old tech page...

Keep in mind that we're talking about a 20 year old car here... VW I believe has similar recommendations (old == 60K, new = 90K?,) not sure if any current Porsche models even use timing belts.

I remember an auto club tow I did. An Escort with a broken timing belt. After we loaded up and took off the lady said "I wonder why this car goes through so many timing belts? This is the third one!" I said I didn't know, maybe it's the brand of belt or the way they were installed. A few minutes later I thought to ask how many miles were on the car. She answered "180,000!"
