Hello...
I have a 97 Outback Legacy, 192K miles, automatic tranny.
Yesterday when I started it, the engine was clunking/ticking/rattling in a non-rhythmic sort of way. It did get cold that night, but not below 35 (F). I could not determine exactly where the sound was coming from. This is the first time that the car has produced this sound. When I drove it, there seeemed to be no loss of power, and I could not hear the sound from inside the car. Once the car heated up, the sound got a little quieter, but was still present.
What the heck is causing this?
