How to care for the Plastic on bumpers and doors.

Hi, My question is about caring for the exterior. Since my Forester is an X model, the bumpers and plastic on the bottom of the doors is not painted. Does it make any sense to wax the plastic to protect it from the weather or should I just use something like ArmorAll. It seems to me that I should do something with it or eventually the UV rays from the sun will degrade the plastic.

Thanks,

Joseph

Don't wax unpainted plastic. It will turn white. ArmorAll does more harm than good.

I use Meguiars Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant on interior and exterior plastic and rubber. It has conditioners and UV protectant. It is also good for removing the wax that gets on the edges when waxing the rest of the car.

I have been maintaining my 1996 Explorer (black) with numerous Meguiars products and it looks brand new. My wife thinks I am nuts but I use their Quick Detailer product to wipe the hood after it rains to remove water spots. The reflection is still like a mirror. Black cars look sharp when clean but are a pain to maintain.

Just did my 2003 OBW and 1996 Explorer. Both look factory fresh. Apply with cotton towel. Wipe with another cotton towel.

Since 1996 I have not been disappointed by a single Meguiars product.
