If the damage was caused by a rock, it is normally covered under "comprehensive" insurance coverage. On such a new car I'm sure you have comprehensive... it is a small cost and covers the odd sorts of damage as this. You will have to pay the deductible, unfortunately.

In any case DO NOT leave the system in an uncharged condition for any length of time. If moist air gets into the system you will have a host of other problems. Whoever fixes it should pump the system to evacuate ALL the air in the system and consider getting a new absorber(forgot the true name) to keep any remaining moisture from contaminating the new Freon. JMHO ed
