Thanks very much for the pointers. So I had it taken to a mechanic for a safety check and here's what I got. It looks like the timing belt has not been changed and the current owner (who got the car at 100k) has no recollection (or receipts) that she changed it. So I take it that it was NOT changed. Besides that the front brakes are at 5% (I dont know what that means).
Also, it says that the radiator and heater hoses are original equipment. Does that mean that they were never replaced?
The mechanics also said that the tires all have side wall cracks but its ok to turn.
I would appreciate any input.
