Is it normal to have an anti-freeze smell after a 20plus minute drive? I took my 2005 OB 2.5i to the dealer (twice). He said that there was a little overflow that was on the lower pan. He washed the exterior of the radiator and engine area. I could still smell the anti-freeze after the "work" was done.

Hi Nicolaas, I recently had a stone chip burst my rad. The dealer said he'd be able to replace the inner and seal it to frame. After 3 attempts to seal it he agreed to fit entire new rad(pre-sealed). I constantly had an antifreeze smell(its horrible). I reckon if you get them to look at the seal on the base of your rad it may have a slight pin hole. In your case a patch of sealer, along the base will probably do, without the need to separate the inner from the frame.
Hope this helps neil
Hi all, Can anyone advise me as to what is up with my 00Impreza. Recently had a radiator replaced everything seemed grand for about 500miles. Now every time i start up engine I hear a swishing of water noise which seems to come from just under the windscreen. My heater still works so I dont think its air locked(do these models have a self bleed or manual bleed valve). The noise increases when you rev engine while stationary. When its cold the noise is present when in 1st and 2nd gears. Also when i break I hear movement of water from same location. The performance is slightly less but my fuel filters need replacing so this may be why. Can anyone shed any light.
Neil
