This weekend I got some stinky lake water on the cloth seats of my Forester XT. Though the smell is starting to dissipate, it is still there. Any recommendations for removing the stench? Febreeze maybe?

Three ideas, any of which should work.
You might try miximg some real vanilla extract in some water and putting it in a spray bottle and spraying the seats. Most people find the smell of vanilla very pleasant (kind of like cookies right out of the oven), but not overwhelming or perfumy (I myself can't stand perfumy smells, but tolerate vanilla very well. It also has some odor neutralizing properites (i.e., it doesn't just mask odors). It will also dissipate in a couple of days - hopefully the two smells will be gone about the same time.
You could also do the same thing with a mixture of vinegar and water to chemically neutralize the odor without doing damage and without any added smells.
A third idea that I have had success with are some commercial products available in places like WalMart - some dry stuff that you unseal and let it sit in the same air space as the odor causing area and it chemically neutralizes odors without additional masking odors. Sorry - don't remember the name of the product I used.

Thanks Bill. Baking soda fits that description, but I'll still check.

First I would wash the seats with clear water and then I would recommend using 'Ozium' a glycolized air sanitizer. It comes in a spray can and is used in hospitals, offices, hotels, and other places (especially in our kitchen after I cook ... grin.
You do not spray this on any fabric. You can find it in most stores around the country. I buy ours at the local car wash.
Hi, If you have a steam carpet cleaner, that'll help it. Use deordorizing cleaning solution and make sure to dry it out
100%. T>Don't know if this will help, but ya might want to try a product called "Nature's Miracle"....

Shampoo the seat and vaccuum with a wet/dry vac, repeat if necessary. Other products only add a nice smell, you need to get the dirt out.
Fabreeze works wonders too and no labor involved.
