This is a very welcome development.

The new 2.5L engine is stronger than the old and most likely free from any head gasket issues that so maligned the old powerplant.

I wonder if they stiffened the body.

There seems to be a problem with the structure of the Forester, the body being very delicate and producing incurable rattles. People are complaning all over the place about terrible rattles particularly coming from the back of the car.

Dealerships can't fix these as in all likelyhood they are a result of weak structure. One cannot even put an aftermarket strut tower brace in the back as there are no struts in the rear of the Forester anymore.

I like the car but what's the point if its a rattle box.

The new engine is a bit heavier, so if the structure of the Forester remains the same, the rattle problem might even get worse.

Correction. I am not sure if it is heavier, it might actually be lighter. I suspect it is heavier though.
