-The "Check Engine" light came on

-The code was 32

-The "Check Engine" light never reappeared on subsequent trips even though code 32 is still in memory

-I removed the EGR, cleaned it up, and reinstalled it

-I cleared the code

-After driving around about the 20 miles, the "Check Engine" light came on again

-The code was 32

-Once again, the "Check Engine" light doesn't reappear on subsequent trips even though code 32 is still in memory

When the "Check Engine" light comes on with a code 32, does it "tell" the computer to adjust the timing to compensate for the EGR, and is that why the "Check Engine" light does not come back on even though the code 32 is still in memory?

The car seems to be running fine under any circumstance.

There was a rubber membrane that went bad when mine threw EGR codes. Just bite the bullet and spend the $57 or so to replace all the EGR stuff, it's not all that difficult.
