'98 Malibu - pull ABS fuse? Need testimonials please

Yet another ABS sufferer here... ABS light is off when first starting the vehicle... at some point the brakes will start "skipping" when trying to stop at low speed. (Over time, the max speed at which this may occur is increasing.) After a few instances the ABS light will come on, at which point braking behavior becomes "normal" (i.e. kinda sucks but doesn't try to kill me like the ABS does.) Restarting the car restarts the cycle.

Now when I pull the fuse, the first time or two I start up all I get is the ABS light and "normal" braking. But eventually I will also get the "BRAKE" warning light. It doesn't seem as though the braking performance sucks any worse than usual in this mode.

What I'd like to know is, if anyone has firsthand experience driving the Malibu or same system without the fuse for an extended period of time, without any ill effect?

TIA Steve

Mike, I was afraid of that until I realized that the *only* time the light came on was when the fuse is pulled. That is, if I just drive around until the ABS fails on its own, I *never* see the "BRAKE" light. So I wonder if it's just telling me that the fuse is "blown"? Probably I will need to go to Auto Zone and get the exact codes. Thanks for your reply.
