Hello. What sensor or whatever sends the signal that makes the smaller cooling fan in a 1994 Jeep Cherokee come on?..There are 2 fans..The one on the passenger side is constantly on and the one on the drivers side doesn`t kick in til the engine reaches a specific temp...My fan is working but I`m trying to track an unrelated electrical/sensor problem which doesn`t seem to occur until the engine gets to the point it seems this fan may pop on. Thanks :-)

The AC should trigger the second fan.
I think the overheat sensor to make the second fan come on in an overheat situation is in the back of the rad on the driver's side tank. I am not sure at what temperature this triggers, it, the fan normally only gets used for AC.
Cherokees without AC do not have this second electric fan.

Your coolant temp sensor should be the one that controls the fan. It might be in the radiatior, or near the thermostat housing. I think if you pull the wire off the sensor the fan should come on.
The book test for the electric fan is to provide 12 volts and a ground to it's plug via jumper wires to verify it is good.
The coolant temp sensor in the 4.0 on the t-stat housing is for the computer. The coolant sensor in the rear corner of the head is for the dash gauge and the coolant temp sensor in the rad is for the fan.
