Was making idle chit chat with a guy and he was complaining his AC wasn't working. It would blow cold for a while and then blow warm. He said he put "hi test" gas in the car and the ac worked better but still would start to blow warm intermittently. After he said that I changed the subject....

You know, that is theoretically possible, at least if there are other issues he neglected to mention. With modern auto A/C clutches controlled by the ECM to allow dumping of the A/C load under WOT conditions it's possible that someone thought to put in the ECM firmware code to dump the A/C during some misfire conditions and the "high test" gas reduced that misfire. Theoretically at least, more probable the guy was clueless and/or nuts... Or perhaps was referring to refrigerant gas...
